Caring is Contagious.

The idea of The Compassion Key started with old, unwanted stuffed animals.  Instead of simply donating them to the local thrift store the decision was made to give them to local police, fire and emergency room staff to give to children who were found in the care of these selfless heroes.  Receiving the simple gift of a teddy bear in such dire circumstances could mean a great deal, not only to the child, but also the child's parents, and even the first responder on the scene or in the hospital.  However, donating used stuffed animals presented unforeseen challenges such as the risk of allergens found in many homes, such as pet dander, or a loose button posing a potential choking hazard.  But we weren't about to give up on our mission so easily.  Instead, we decided to apply for 501c3 status and solicit donations to buy new stuffed animals that met our specific needs and criteria which also extends the gift of compassion beyond the child in need, beyond even the caregiver, to you the generous donor!

We connect members of our community through compassion, because we know that to care for others is to care for ourselves.  No matter how tragic the circumstance even the smallest act of compassion can heal and strengthen the one who suffers and the one who comforts.  It's our goal to remind the world that we are all connected and through loving kindness anything is possible.
